What’s it all about?

 k

Why are we here?

 k

What’s the purpose of our existence? All this highs n lows, the pleasure and pain, this suffering, the moments of joy. Birth to youth – to old age – to death. Surely there has to be some purpose to all this!?

This simple but humungous question which has been asked throughout the ages, and to which all of us, at some reflective point in our lives have pondered. Maybe at a loved one’s funeral, we have stepped back and questioned …. “Why”. The same simple question put forth and analyzed, debated, and explained by all the leading prophets, masters, mystics and genuine gurus throughout the ages. What is this all about?

k

From the title, I’m sure readers have worked out my take on this. I know this is a simplistic explanation, but I really do see this whole worldly experience as a spiritual test.

k

It’s a spiritual opportunity, a spiritual challenge, a spiritual apprenticeship. A spiritual schooling on how to become conscious. The College of Consciousness with all the brutal knocks and rewards, highs and lows one would receive in any training schedule.

k

Our conscious apprenticeship is open-ended. It doesn’t really have a start, nor an end. We never really stop learning. This eternal training provides us with endless opportunities to really master consciousness. To become enlightened souls. Throughout our lives we are given mini tests, intermittent assessments, midterm papers and the final examination at the end of the term.

k

 k

 k

In a nutshell the College of Consciousness has two main objectives for ALL it’s students:

k

(i) To rid oneself of all levels of selfishness.

kk

(ii) To make a connection with the Divine Universal Spirit – God.

k

That’s it. Once we achieve these these two goals, and we ‘get it’. We no-longer have to keep enrolling for a new term. We get to sit back, put our feet up and enjoy the show.

k

 k

We don’t get it, until we get it

 k

 k

Some of the topics to which the student is finally assessed include:

k

  •  Degrees to which the student has grasped and exercised selflessness.

k

  •  What purely altruistic acts have they carried out throughout their apprenticeship? With zero kudos connections.

k

  • What levels of kindness, compassion and unconditional love has this student shown to complete strangers?

k

  • What levels of kindness, compassion and unconditional love has the student shown towards their brothers and sisters, whom they have never met in far off distant lands?

k

  • To what degree has the student been able to control, defuse and covert into love any anger and negativity directed towards them?

k

  • To what level has the student turned their back on self-centered egotistic activities and in turn converted them into shared, communal activities for the good of others?

k

  • How well was the student able to resist and turn their back on unnecessary materialistic wealth?

k

  • What levels of compassion did the student show towards other sentient souls of non-human origin (animals)? Did they love them, or eat them?

k

  • What respect did the student show towards mother earth?

k

  • What efforts did the student make towards both seeking and sharing the Truth?

 k

  • How much did the student respect and maintain the vehicle to carry the soul (the physical body)?

k

  • What levels of courage did the student embrace to stand up for Truth and others who are being victimized?

k

  • What levels of faith and detached trust did the student show in the Consciousness College, when times were low? Were they able to see it all objectively for the eternal apprenticeship (test) is was and not just for the short term period?

    k

  • Did the student get wrapped up in separatism during their term? Did he/she fall for the trap of IAMism – I AM a this label, or I AM a that label; or did they view themselves simply as a soul having an experience in this temporary role?

k

  • What levels of effort did the student undertake to make a real connection with the Divine Universal Spirit – God?

kkk

  • And ultimately – what efforts did the student make to help keep others on the right track – to help keep them conscious, towards the Truth and help them become God conscious?

k

~~~~~~~
 k
k
So, the final assessment has gone through and the head principle at the College of Consciousness has kindly decided to provide us with yet another chance to ‘have a go’.
k
Off we go again. This time in a different vehicle for the journey. A complete new package for the exciting learning process. The exact same subject of apprenticeship – consciousness. But this time round with a different twist – a different sex, a new colour, a different region of the world and a completely new language.
k
So, off we go – good luck and don’t forget ……..
    Oh, boy! I thought I had come a long way until I read this. Seems I have a few more trials and tribulations to live through, or, maybe not.
    Digs, your consciousness continues to astound, wonder and amaze. You really do make people stop…..and think.
    IMVHO, “The Thinker” statue should be re-dedicated in your honor.
    With this every brilliant essay you are fast becoming the Aristotle of the 21st century.
    My humble thanks, Digs, but I don’t believe I’ve done all that much to deserve the kudos. I’ve only written a few essays, and mostly borrowed the “sterling” works of others. But, I did compile it all very well in a blog that seems to appeal to many out there. If ever, I have the time and the opportunity to freely write, I would feel more worthy of the praise that you’ve kindly bestowed upon me.
    I am so enjoying this website,and Digger ! I came to much of this realization through my own,and late mothers travails,and the love I have for beauty and truth.Life is to appreciated as is,all of it a miracle and a gift.As I left the Judiac inspired religion my life bloomed and mind expanded. All of this came together as I learned and observed how the Jew captures the mind and soul.My discovery that in the Third Reich The Buddha and the Hindu was appreciated.I do think that Digger and all on here would appreciate reading the works of Sevetri Devi,the European Hindu Covert.A PHD she discovered the evil of the Jews over our minds,and the keys to liberation. All should see the beautiful Sevetri Devi Archive.com,and tributes to her on You Tube.
    Very nice sentiments. However, I have to disagree with your first law – “to rid oneself of all levels of selfishness”. This altruistic mindset is perhaps the most laudable and virtuous of man’s ideas, but by the Laws of Nature, it is impossible to attain. Granted, there are some who have achieved a semblance of this level of selflessness, but to expect the entirety of mankind – in all of his myriad of races, traits and other distinctions to reach a nirvana of total “selflessness” is ludicrous.
    My bylaws would be just as simply stated…
    (i.) To rid oneself of any unnatural thoughts or impulses and to obey and worship Nature’s Laws with unflexing reverence.
    (ii.) Let your conscience (God’s voice within all of us) be your guide.
    In my opinion, these two axioms – if practiced – would lead to a better world for all of us.
    • Thanks Joe,
      Nice axioms.
      Re my first point being ludicrous – the purpose of the essay was more a tongue-in-cheek metaphoric narrative. Not definitive laws.
      Thanks for your contribution.
